Public/Private: Data Privacy in Public Spaces – BPL Central Library

October 22, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

What does privacy mean in the public context? What happens when we consider our privacy, security, and safety as shared and public concerns? How do the stakes and the remedies change if we address digital privacy as communities, instead of as individuals?

To interrogate these issues, nine library branches — three from each of the city’s library systems — will host a distributed exhibition of site-specific artworks exploring issues related to digital risk and privacy.

Join us on Monday, October 22 for a preview of the exhibit with Toisha Tucker, Sam Lavigne, and Tega Brain. They’ll discuss their contributions to this exhibit and will share their responses to the pressing issues related to life in a data-rich society.
